Founded in 1985 to service the magazine advertising markets, today MSGL has expanded into nearly all facets of the publishing business, including advertising management, circulation fulfillment, book publishing, exhibition and event management, directories and membership management.

- The Media Services Group acquires the The Cat's Pajamas, provider of the well known book publishing software system by the same name.
- As part of the Cat's Pajamas acquisition, Media Services increases its West Coast presence with the addition of an office and employees north of Seattle, WA.
- Media Services opens office in Brazil in support of localized product launches into the Brazilian publishing marketplace.
- New Élan software platform released, supporting integrated browser-based software components.
